In a hypercompetitive world where traders invest in a stock market in a different time zone as a market in their timezone closes for the day, algorithmic trading makes this job comparatively easy for them. Algorithmic trading can be defined as “placing a buy or sell order of a defined quantity into a quantitative model that automatically generates the timing of orders and the size of orders based on goals specified by the parameters and constraints of the algorithm.
Algorithmic trading is the systematic investing that is done in global stock and financial markets, without the handicap of human error or emotion. It is done on the basis of certain rules that are determined by price, quantity and the time of a buy/ sell decision which is computed on the basis of a statistical model and/ or historical data. This allows investors to follow a strict, safe and a well defined strategy which ensures that they always book profits.
Algorithmic trading allows investors to book profits at extremely high speeds. A lot of people hesitate or are greedy while taking major decisions, which may result in them buying stocks at the wrong price. Algo trading allows investors to avoid all this as they will be following a set strategy which minimizes human error.
