BIL conducts many courses that are designed for working professionals and students. The short term course on the Basic of Derivatives of Markets is designed for Stock Brokers, Mutual Fund Managers, Asset Managers, Insurance Companies, Portfolio Managers, Derivative Dealers, Bankers and students.
The curriculum of the course trains participants to manage risk options of an active, electronic and automated traded platform with ability to understand portfolio hedging, analysis of trading performance and development of new logic to improve trading performance, have knowledge of derivatives & options- in particular option trading strategies, develop of trading/risk platforms, plan and develop strong trading techniques, execute trades based on trading strategies across various markets and work with portfolio managers and research analysts to understand trading models.
BIL has a special simulation lab that allows students to have mock trades on real time prices.
The curriculum of the course includes nature of financial derivatives including futures and options, characteristics of derivatives, underlying assets (equity, bonds/loans, foreign currency, and commodity) need for derivatives, types of derivatives and comparison between them, forwards/ futures/ options, participants in the derivatives market (hedgers, speculators, arbitrageurs), principles of trading and hedging with index futures, principles of trading and hedging with options, risk management systems and procedures.

The Basic Program on Derivatives Markets will be conducted on the 29th and 30th of April 2017 and shall be from 10 am in the morning to 5:30 pm in the evening.
